- Global share markets made a gain of nearly 6% in August, largely led by Wall Street
- Large daily increases in infection are still being seen in Brazil and India, with a resumption in Italy, France, and Britain
- The Australian share market delivered a 2.8% gain in August
- The Australian economy is still delivering a very mixed performance, as consumers are still concerned about the threat of the virus
